Movie is another screen adaptation of A.L.Webber's musical. I must confess that I have been nailed down to the cinema chair from the moment when the chandelier flews up... Whatever bad can be told about this movie, music covers it all with its majesty and makes those comments worthless. Maybe the plot isn't consistent, maybe acting of some actors isn't perfect, maybe this is not an exact copy of the novel written by Gaston Leroux... but is it really the most important? This is a musical and the most important here is the music and sings, all the rest is only a background. Movie is made in the way that someone who is watching has an impression he is watching the play in the theatre (scenography), he has an impression he is watching relations behind the scenes. In my opinion it is very important, this is not an usual movie, it's a play due to this. Of course there are people who dosn't like the musicals and they are discouraged when they hears a word "musical". But this is an exceptional musical, gloomy and fascinating and the music is brilliant, sometimes very gothic.
